Today In History: Birth of the United States Air Force
September 18th: Today in 1947 the United States Air Force officially seperated from the United States Army and became its own service branch. This year the Air Force is begining events to commerate the 60th birthday of the service by dedicating the Air Force Memorial in Arlington, Virginia on Monday, October 16th.

I gotta say, I drove past the Memorial the other day while it was under construction, and my only thought was that it looks like someone jabbed a bunch of ribs into the ground. Color me not impressed …
