October 2nd: Today in 1950 the Peanuts comic strip was launched in newspapers. I loved the comic as a boy and the tv specials were always big events when I was growing up. Sadly the strip didn’t age well, running on long after it had anything to say, but in its heyday it was absolutely brilliant. There has been a recent reprint of the early strips that is well worth a look, especially if you have only seen the later strips. There is also a great fan produced FAQ on the strip here.
