Today In History: The Start of the Iranian Hostage Crisis
November 4th: Today in 1979 a group of radical Iranians stormed the United States embassy in Tehran and seized most of the staff as hostages. Most of the hostages would be held for four hundred and forty-four days as the United States sat helpless. The Iranians were of course violating all international law and set their modern reputation as a pariah nation here. Not the United States or Iran’s proudest moment.
