Bad* History: Hanging The Elephant
I am not one to overly anthropomorphize animals. I can look at a deer and see it as an animal, potentially a tasty animal, not as Bambi, but I still find this story of the execution of an Elephant in Tennessee to be a bit painful.
* Bad History pieces will be history that is unpleasant, not bad history like the moon landing didn’t happen. That will be filed under Come On Now WTF History when I decide to do one.

Of course if Mary was a female, Indian elephant (and elephants aren’t hard to sex) she wouldn’t have had tusks.

Yes and circus elephants are almost always Indian elephants. African elephants are not normally considered trainable. Watch a Tarzan movie and you can see the false ears they use to make the Indian elephants look like African ones.
