I visited my Dad in Germany over New Years 1982. It sounded like a thunder strorm from 11:30pm to around 1am. My Dad's neighbors had these "bombs" (2 inch cubes, tied up with twine) that caused a bang worthy of a high powered hand gun. What I remember most was the walk we took the following morning. It had snowed a day or two earlier but that morning, the snow had suddenly sprouted hundreds of red, yellow and green bottle rocket sticks. I didn't see a lawn or roof that didn't have a dozen or more sticking out of it. As near as I could tell, there wasn't any concern or reports of fire or injury.
