January 1rst: Today in 1788 the Times of London was first published. One of the things I enjoy in the UK is the variety of papers available. What you read says quite a bit about you, if you read the Guardian you are stereotyped as a Granola eating middle class liberal. The Times is for the moderate middle class, sort of a vanilla paper. The Telegraph is for the conservative crank who likes to rant about how the country is going to hell in a hand basket. The tabloids are for the working class blue collar sorts, sports and boobs. I skip the tabloids but I try to rotate the papers I pick up over there, the variety of opinions is a refreshing change to the rather similar flavors of the big US papers, except of course for the McPaper, which tastes like nothing at all.
