Today In History: Edward III Crowned King of England
February 1rst: Today in 1327 Edward the Third was crowned King of England at the age of fourteen following the rebellion that deposed Edward the Second. He started the reign under a regency led by his Mother and her consort Roger Mortimer. Mortimer proved to be a very unpopular lord and three years later Edward led a raid into Nottingham Castle that overthrew Mortimer and set himself soley in control of the Kingdom.
