The Pipettes are a girl band with a harder edge than most UK girl bands seem to be going for now. They are nowhere near as intense as Betty Blowtorch, my favorite modern ‘girl’ band, I would rate them in the Go-Go’s category but I have to say as far as I am concerned, the Pipettes rock. Other good songs on their album are ABCs and We Are The Pipettes, all solid rockers. I got their album from Emusic, but now it is unavailable for download in the US there so if you want the disc here it is at Amazon.

Dirty Mind is also pretty good, but slower paced. I could imagine this one from some of the other girl groups out there.

Pull Shapes is a cute video, but not my favorite song on the album.

Judy has a very, very retro feel to it, even for a band going for retro…
