February 23rd:Today in 1847 a small US Army in Mexico pulled off a stunning victory at the Battle of Buena Vista. It is common for American’s to make light of our military victories or to credit outside causes, but this was a fighting victory that really did beat the odds. Many of the names made famous here would reappear in the Civil War thirteen years later.
