An Unwitting Cassandra Speaks At Time Warner.

This quote

“The Googles of the world, they are the Custer of the modern world. We are the Sioux nation,” Time Warner Inc. Chief Executive Richard Parsons said, referring to the Civil War American general George Custer who was defeated by Native Americans in a battle dubbed “Custer’s Last Stand”.

“They will lose this war if they go to war,” Parsons added, “The notion that the new kids on the block have taken over is a false notion.”

from a Time Warner exec is being mocked on Instapundit. I think they miss the point and the quote is accurate. They may beat Custer/Google, but there is no way the old media companies will be able to survive without changing to adapt to the new world. The Sioux were better off before the white man turned up and the old media was better off before the internet, but the Sioux couldn’t stop the modern world and neither can Time Warner. I suspect Time Warner would love to see a return of the buffalo, but it isn’t going to happen no matter what their corporate Crazy Horse’s are telling them.
