Front Gate at Jamestown Fort

Went to Jamestown this weekend and really enjoyed it. The last time I remember going the theory of the day was the the original fort was under the river now. In 1994 they found the fort (on land mostly) and have been digging daily there ever since. The museum of finds from the fort and the area around it was very, very good. The state park with a recreated fort and Indian village was in great shape after all the years. Well worth a visit if you haven’t been down there in awhile.

We were in Jamestown a few years ago and I was very impressed by their research and presentation. I think that was right after the new discoveries and the new visitor’s center was being finished.
I can’t be in Jamestown without remembering the trip we took to see Hjalti (a million years ago) and such brilliant stories as the parked goat.
    Nice pictures!
