North World: Great Web Comic

It has been awhile since I posted about a web comic but North World by Lars Brown has made my must be read regularly list recently and I thought I would point it out. North World has a very simple premise but one I haven’t seen done in web comics before, our modern world is exactly as it is, but it is a Dungeons and Dragons world with adventurers guilds sending out heroes to fight against monsters and evil sorcerers and the like.

The hero is Conrad Lionel, who is slowly working towards recognition as a monster slayer. He is clearly got something to prove and the current story line gives hints about why he got into the dangerous job of hero. In many ways this is classic Dungeons and Dragons but you could also look at the story as a Buffy the Vampire Slayer variation, either way, the art is good and story is strong. It is also nice to see Bears and forest animals properly represented as the savage opponents of mankind they are. His first collection will be available in March and is available for preorder at Amazon now.
