		<description>Pompeii is spectacular, and huge!  I did notice several alarming things about it when I was there, I guess 10 years ago or so.  One of the annoying things was someone's comment of "of course you're allowed to touch things.  That's why it's out there."  Um, no.  It's out there because it's too huge to put up barriers, roofs and plexiglass over everything.  Sadly (and maddeningly) I saw a lot of tops of frescoes.  The images at eye level, which was also hand level, had been rubbed away to nothing.</description>
