April 23rd: Today in 1014 the Battle of Clontarf was fought between the Vikings and the Irish forces of Brian Boru. The battle ended with a victory by the Irish forces, but the death of Brian Boru led to a disorganized Ireland for many years afterwards and the myth that the battle drove the vikings from Ireland is probably as true as Saint Patrick diving the snakes out.
