Never Put Out A Burning Californian

The California Supreme Court has decided to dramatically limit the good Samaritan law in the state. Important lesson: Never put out a burning Californian. If you should see a burning Californian, remember the Skraeling motto ‘When in danger, when in doubt, run in circles scream and shout.’ Trust me, this is much, much safer than actually trying to help someone in an emergency in California.

I did not know the Good Samaritan was a physician, they won’t stop either. Who appoints this kind of stupidity to the bench?

This is a very sad situation. The “Good Samaritan Law” was intended to protect the public from two different directions:

First if you are in need of help and or rescue, then a person discovering
that you need help will come to your aid.

Second if you are the person attempting to render aid, you can assist without fear of being sued or arrested for your actions.

There are some problems that can occur with this simple and humane approach. If you have no training in medicine, first aid or rescue, then you may stray over the line of reasonable and prudent care.

We all should take a CPR course and a First Aid Course. The information and training would have prepared the rescuer and perhaps changed the action that she took.

Automobiles do not explode or burn as a usual occurance. That does happen but it is rare. (TV and Movies are always too dramatic!)
