Yellowstone is full of hungry grizzlies getting ready for the Fall of Fear. Should be a good one! They each need to bulk up by about fifty pounds before winter, I wonder where they will find some meat popsicles?

So when we went camping over Labor Day, we went with our friends Meriah and Chris, and their kids. Their younger boy (2 1/2 yrs) kept asking “what’s daddy going to throw at the bear this time?” when packing for our trip. A few weeks before, they had gone backpacking nearer to Boulder and seen a bear. Chris told me he had been holding a bowl of oatmeal when the bear appeared and looked as if it might charge, and he thought “I really don’t need to be holding food!” so he’d tossed it.
