Today In History: Kasper Hauser found in the streets of Nürnberg
May 26: Today in 1828 a young boy was found wandering the streets of Nürnberg, Germany. He could only say one thing ‘I want to be a rider like my father’ and could only right his name, Kasper Hauser. When he learned enough to communicate he told a story of being locked in a small dark room for years. Speculation of who he was went on for years and several attempts were made to kill him, one of which finally was successful leading to speculation that he might be an abused nobleman whose family wanted him dead. A full account of life can be found here.
