Fed Ex Silliness
Fed Ex has real momentum at the moment. They seem to really have eaten into the UPS ground of non-overnight shipping and they seem to be doing it with style. Good for them, UPS has been on top for a long time and competition is good for them. Still Fed Ex can be just as stupid as any other company when they get a chance. Recently someone put up a web site about making furniture out of Fex Ex boxes. Harmless cute web fun of the sort that annoying people email around or post up on their blogs. Fed Ex responded with take down notice citing the Digital Millennium Copyright Act among other reasons. Fortunately some kind hearted lawyers have stood up for the guy and pointed out that the Fed Ex claims are all hooey. I know corporate lawyers have to earn their keep, but someone should have pulled back the dogs on this one. It doesn’t do Fed Ex much credit here.
