August 29th: Today in 1786 the popular rebellion against the Massachusetts government known as Shay’s rebellion began. Today we take the early part of American history for granted, it was just bound to work out with all those clever guys around then. At the time it was much less clear as events like Shay’s rebellion showed, there was a lot of popular discontent with the way America worked in the pre-constitution days and America could have easily gone off track completely. I guess all those clever guys had to earn their pay somehow.
