August 31rst: Today in 1888 the first murder to be attributed to ‘Jack the Ripper‘ occured in the Whitechapel area of London. The first victim was Mary Ann Nichols, but it is by no means certain she was the actual first victim as many horrible attacks had already occured the same year. The Ripper crimes have their own macbre fan base of part time detectives who each have their own favorite suspect, and each convinced they will be the ones to have ‘Sherlock Holmes’ moment and expose the real killer, more than one hundred years later.
