September 23rd: Today in 1780 Major André was arrested by American troops after plotting with the traitor Benedict Arnold. Andre was caught with the plans of West Point, the fort that Arnold commanded and notes on how best to take the fort. He was apparently a decent fellow and well liked even by the Americans who imprisoned him, but in the end he was hung as a spy as was Nathan Hale four years before him.
