Today In History: A Rare Washington Field Victory
December 25th: Today in 1776 George Washington had one of his rare victories on a battle field. Taking the crumbling remains of the continental army across the Deleware river he suprised some Hessian troops in Trenton, NJ. It was a pretty small affair, but it showed the world that the continentals were not about to give up after a very hard fall campaign. I suspect he only won this one because the suprise didn’t allow the British to turn his flank as normal.
