Today In History: Osceola Sparks Second Seminole War
December 28th: Today in 1835 Chief Osceola led a band of 5o Seminole Indians in an ambush that kills the local Indian Agent sparking the second Seminole War. The Seminoles led by Osceola fought in a guerrilla campaign and tied up the US Army for two years before Osceola was captured. He died in captivity shortly afterwards but the tribe carried on resistance to US rule for another five years.
