Finding A Gleeful Gecko
I check the log files every month for this web sites usage. This is a pretty slow traffic site but I do find it interesting to see how some folks end up here. One of the fascinating log entries is search queries. This is a bit of info the search sites send you when someone clicks a link on your site telling you what they searched for. So what do you think was the number one search term for January with 14 clicks in after searches? Yes, it was Hagar the Horrible’s Dog with 14 clicks! So for all of you who are fascinated by Hagar’s dog, here is a small tribute story.
Hagar the Horrible is a long running cartoon in newspapers. It features Hagar, his buddy Lucky Eddie, his wife Helga, his son Hamlet, his duck Kvack, his daughter Honi, and of course the real star of the strip Snert, his dog. A good rundown on the characters can be found on the unofficial Hagar site. The lovable dog Snert and his hilarious antics have kept millions of readers in stitches for years, no one was surprised when he entered the cartoon dog walk of fame in 1983, alongside of Farley, from For Better Or Worse who was inducted that same year. Unfortunately the 80s were not kind to Snert, like many celebrities he found himself the subject of a series of exposes in the tabloids and had a brief trip to rehab. The nineties were much kinder to him, he appeared in several high profile crossovers such as the Spider Man and Snert team up comic and had a successful if direct to video hit with Working Out With Snert. There you go, all you need to know about Snert, even if you only needed his name for a crossword answer…….
