Today In History: Ranavalona III of Madagascar Deposed
February 28th: Today in 1897 Queen Ranavalona III of Madagascar was deposed and Madagascar was declared a French colony. She isn’t as famous as Queen Renavalona I, who remains notorious to this day, but she was struggling against the flow of colonialism when she tried to resist the French take over of her country. She died in exile in 1899.![]()
