March 1rst: Today in 1692 the first three accused Salem Witches, Sarah Good, Sarah Osborne, and Tituba were arrested. A bloody and stupid year followed where many, many more were arrested and killed. It was a terrible tragedy but it did teach a valuable lesson to the early Americans. Increase Mather’s “It were better that Ten Suspected Witches should escape, than that the Innocent Person should be Condemned.”  is one of the basis of American justice today.
