April 26th: Today in 1937 the first instance well publiczed instance of mass bombing of a civillian target took place in Guernica, Spain. The bombing destroyed seventy percent of the town and killed or wounded thirty percent of the population. It inspired the famous painting by Picasso that has become one of the most important of his works.
