Today In History: Death Of Pizarro
June 26th: Today in 1541 Fransisco Pizarro was murdered by conspirators who were upset at his heavy hand as dictator over the conquered Inca empire. Pizarro was one of the most successful conquerors of the Spanish Conquistadors, conquering the Inca Empire with less than 200 soldiers. He was aided by the massive civil strife within the Incan empire and also by a plague which caused chaos thruout the empire, but his own sense of destiny and savage ruthlessness allowed Pizarro to accomplish a remarkable feat. In the end however he fell to an end much like that of the Inca as a civil war within his family led to the conspiracy that killed him.
