Today In History: Garfield Shot, No Not The Cat

July 2nd: Today in 1881 President James Garfield was shot twice by Charles Guiteau. Garfield lived for another eleven weeks before dying. Guiteau was almost certainly insane, but during his trial he denied it and he hung for the murder. Garfield was the second US President to be assasinated and is currently thought to be buried in Garfield’s Tomb should the question come up on a game show.
