March 31: The Port of Boston Act. Following acts of rebellion in the colonies such as the Boston Tea Party the British Parliment closed the port of Boston today in one of the Intolerable Acts. This attempt to force obedience had nearly the opposite result with many other colonies who had been critical of Massachusetts became much more sympathetic.
