July 26th: Today in 1948 President Truman issued Executive Order 9981 which officially desegregated the United States military. The Second World War had revealed how foolish segregation had been and how it had handicapped our forces, this order helped to make our military much more effective. Whether you are a Truman fan or not today is a great do give a toast to him.
