One of the saddest parts of Dr. King’s legacy for me is that it is being suppressed by his own family as they desire to profit from it. His assasination was a national tragedy that could not be stopped, this suppression is a tragedy of their own making.
January 16th: Today in 1917 Arthur Zimmermann sent the infamous Zimmermann Telegram proposing that Mexico ally with Germany against America in World War One. Mexico declined, but the telegraph was intercepted, decoded and showed to the American government prompting them to enter World War One on the side the British and French.
January 15th: Today in 1919 twenty-one people died in the Great Boston Molasses Disaster. Yes, it really did happen. Nope, I had never heard of it either. Weird world we live in isn’t it.
January 14th: Today in 1978 effing Johnny effing Rotten quits the effing Sex Pistols at the end of their American tour. Who gives a eff anyway! Wanking effer.
