July 25th: Today in 1853 Joaquin Murrieta was supposedly killed in a gunfight with California Rangers. Murrieta was a bandit who robbed gold miners and a cold blooded killer, but he became a robin hood type figure after his death and his fictionalized life story was the basis for the later Zorro stories.
So the British Army is now requiring their bagpipers to wear ear plugs and limiting their practice time, what about us? Think of the children!
American’s are notoriously reluctant to travel to foreign countries but one American has travelled to England and writes to let us know what it is like. Fascinating stuff, apparently they do some things differently then we do here in America! Oh, and they drink a lot of beer.
