Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I know my music tastes are wildly different from most of my readers, but I one of the reasons I blog is to remind myself of things so I am going to list my favorite music from 2008, in a couple of categories. I have a couple of follow ups on this, but this covers [...]

Early Kick Off For Summer Of Fear 2009

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

Jumping the traditional January first kick off for the annual Summer Of Fear competition Sharks have kicked off early by ‘taking’ a man near Perth. Being a Hero is Hard Work

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

Hopefully the elves will show up like they did at Helms Deep. I always thought the Battle of Hastings lacked Orlando Bloom style action. Free [...]

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

The California Supreme Court has decided to dramatically limit the good Samaritan law in the state. Important lesson: Never put out a burning Californian. If you should see a burning Californian, remember the Skraeling motto ‘When in danger, when in doubt, run in circles scream and shout.’ Trust me, this is much, much safer than [...]

First Magma Observation

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

Interesting Wired article about scientists making the first contact with an under ground magma pocket, providing a first chance to study magma under the ground. This is pretty cool but I was surprised that it hadn’t been encountered before now. Still should be very useful in studying how the planet came together.
